Savera helps you track your fridge, suggest recipes, and waste less food. To do that, we store some data. Here's exactly what, why, and how you stay in control.
TL;DR
- We store your email for sign-in, your fridge items so Savera can remind you, and optional preferences you share. Data sits in the EU (Supabase, Frankfurt). Third parties: Supabase (hosting), OpenAI (recipe generation), Google Analytics (only if you consent).
- You can export or delete everything from Settings. We never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account: email address, preferred language, timezone.
- Fridge: product names, expiry dates, usage status (eaten / thrown out), household membership.
- Chat: messages you send to Savera (processed by OpenAI, stored in logs for up to 30 days for safety audit).
- Notifications: push subscription endpoint (only if you opt in).
- Analytics (consent-based): anonymous page views, feature usage, rough geography. No personal identifiers.
- Sensitive: if you tell Savera about allergies or health conditions, we treat them as "special category" data under GDPR Article 9. You can delete them at any time.
Why we collect it
- Account → so you can sign in and we can send reminders.
- Fridge → that's the whole point of Savera.
- Chat → so Savera can reply and, with your consent, remember things across sessions.
- Notifications → morning nudges about expiring food.
- Analytics → understand which features actually help, fix what doesn't.
Where it lives
- Databases: Supabase (PostgreSQL) in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
- Backend: Railway (Europe-West region).
- AI processing: OpenAI. Prompts may be processed in the US. We don't send anything more than your current question and recent chat history.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (servers in multiple regions). Only loaded if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner.
Your rights (GDPR)
- Access — download everything we have on you.
- Rectification — fix anything that's wrong.
- Erasure — delete your account and all associated data.
- Portability — get your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — for analytics or notifications, any time.

Cookies & local storage
- Essential (always on): auth session, language preference, onboarding progress.
- Analytics (consent-based): Google Analytics _ga cookies, loaded only after consent.
